I am Associate Professor at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS) Guadalajara, México since 2012 (Profesor-Investigador Titular B), and member of the Mexican National System of Researchers, SNI (level II). I am an honorary lecturer in Human Geography in the Department of Geography, University College London where was Lecturer from 2008-2012. At UCL I am a member of the Migration Research Unit (MRU), associate at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA), and y Research Fellow del Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM).
My research interests lie within population and urban geography and my work focuses on investigating ethnicity, migration, citizenship and identity. I have published over 40 academic publications in the last seven years. My published research has pioneered the development of new theoretical and multidisciplinary research methods for understanding identity, ethnicity and mobility. For example, through the conceptualisation and measurement of ethnicity, migration and multiple citizenship, as well as ethnic and socioeconomic segregation and integration, with a view to informing public policy in the UK, Spain, US and Mexico, attracting over $1 million dollars in research funding.
